Opening weekend is always a mix of excitement and nerves, and you could feel that right away. As a pitcher, the adrenaline is high, but you’re still trying to settle into your mechanics and trust your stuff in a real game setting again. We split games to start the year, and honestly, it showed—we had moments where everything clicked, then moments where we let things slip.
Offensively, we showed we could put up runs, but we weren’t consistent inning to inning yet. From the mound, it felt like we were still figuring out roles—who’s starting, who’s coming out of the pen, and how we match up against hitters. During the week, we were just getting into the rhythm of balancing everything—classes picking up, early lifts, and practices. At that point, travel hadn’t really hit us yet, but we knew the grind was coming.
