Week 2 – Jamestown Series (Learning to Win Close Games)

This week was huge for us early in the season. We swept Jamestown, but what made it important wasn’t just the wins—it was how we won them:
11–4
4–3
12–11
16–7
Those middle two games stick with me the most. As a pitcher, a 4–3 or 12–11 game means every pitch matters. There’s no room to lose focus, and you really have to trust your defense and your preparation. We didn’t always dominate, but we competed in every moment.
This is also when we started to learn how to finish games. Instead of letting tight games slip, we found ways to close them out. That confidence started building right here, and you could feel it in the dugout.
